Oak
Did you know that the Latin name for oak is quercus or querimus because it was by means of this tree that the pagan gods would answer "queries" about the future?
To the Druids, the most sacred of all trees is the Oak tree, which represents the axis mundi (the center of the universe). The oak was a the doorway to the Otherworld. Its Celtic name "daur," comes from the same root as our words door and Druid.
Elm
One of the early names for the Elm tree was Elven, indicating its connection with the Elves.
Apple
The Apple tree is sacred to the Goddess. Avalon means the land of apples. In the center of the Isle of Avalon there is one apple tree that gives eternal life and youth. It is called theTree of Life.
An apple branch wand with little bells attached (preferably silver, bronze, or gold) is a "key" to the otherworld which is sent out from Avalon as an invitation.
An apple branch (known as "the silver branch) will lead one into the Land of Faerie.
Olive
According to Rudolph Steiner, the Christ energy is more present in the places where Olive trees grow.
Pagan
The word "pagan" comes from an ancient European word meaning "of the land." Similarly, the word "heathen" is from an old Celtic word meaning "of the heath." (Heath also means land. Heather is from the same root).
