Real
Magic (often
spelled Magick or Magik
to distinguish it from card tricks and pulling rabbits out of hats), is
the
process of
using i-magi-nation to change consciousness, by which to attain inner
harmony and manifest what we want
in life -
but there is a
catch.
Ancient
people knew about the Law
of Attraction, but they noticed that sometimes it didn't seem
to work!
* They discovered long
ago that there is a
part of us
that does not always respond to our conscious intentions.
* We now
call it the subconscious or unconscious mind.
*
They
knew that they had to
get this
part
(that governs over 95% of our actions) to support
their conscious
goals.
* They
discovered that this subconscious part of us
responds to symbols and
ritual - the natural language of the subconscious
mind.
*
Using
symbol
and ritual, they developed what we now call "magic" as a way
to
communicate with the subconscious mind.
* Celtic mythology and lore is full of magical references and secret
instructions for magical initiation.
* Even
though magic was kept secret for thousands of years in
the Mystery Schools of various
cultures, the secret is
now available to anyone who is willing to
learn how to
use it.
*
Magic
is an ancient
practice with a modern explanation.
* You
can think of magic
as an ancient path combining Law of Attraction with cutting-edge
psychology and the genetic biology of
belief.
* Magic can open doors to realities you never dreamed possible.
Can
you actually use magic in your daily life? The very word brings
up images
of wands and cauldrons, witches on broomsticks, and the
Sorcerer's Apprentice,
but in reality it is simply the use of your imagination combined
with positive feelings, plus tried-and-true methods of
engaging your subconscious mind.
Most
of us have been taught to distrust
our imagination.
We've all been told things like, "It's just your imagination,"
as a way of
invalidating our inner perceptions. Yet, our imagination may be the
most powerful tool we will ever have to change our reality.
When
we use imagination
to
focus on something, it WILL come to us sooner or
later. It
is Universal Law.
* Practical
Magic
is
the CONSCIOUS use of imagination.
* When
we fully
realize that we
attract whatever we focus our attention upon, we take the first step on
the path of
the Mage (the Persian word for magician).
* Instead of
allowing our
thoughts to run rampant, we start to pay attention to what we
are
thinking about and how we feel.
* We
learn as much as we can about the Law
of Attraction
and how it works, including how our feelings indicate the positive or
negative direction of our thoughts.
* We
learn to communicate
with the subconscious mind in its own language - ritual and symbol.
Feel
the
Magic!
According to the Abraham-Hicks
Law of Attraction teachings, your
feelings are the most
important signal of whether you are attracting what you want or what
you don't want. "There is nothing more important than that you feel
good." - Abranam
*
When
you are feeling positive, you are aligned with Creative Life Energy
(God, Goddess, Source, All-That-Is, the Universe, or any
number of
other names).
* Whatever
name you want to call it, there is a Universal Energy that responds to
your every thought!
* You
are aligned with that Energy and open to
receiving what you want when you feel:
-
happy
- peaceful
- uplifted
- grateful
- appreciative
- calm
- playful
- ecstatic
- blissful
- or any sort
of positive feeling
But
when you get caught up in doubt, despair, anger, hate, fear, or any
other negative emotion, you shut yourself off from all the things you
have wished for - even though they are already there, waiting for you
to experience them. Most of us have deeply ingrained
habits of negative thinking that we may not even be consciously aware
of, and a
whole host of limiting beliefs about what is possible for us to do, or
be, or have. The amazing
thing is that the Universe will give us
whatever we believe! That is why Magic is so useful. Magic
is a pathway
through the landscape of our subconscious fears, doubts, and limiting
beliefs. Magic allows us
to suspend belief long enough to create real
changes in our lives! Take
a
Leap of Faith!
If
you don't believe in Magic, the Universe will supply you with ample
"proof"
that it doesn't exist. So we have to take a leap of faith
even to allow
the possibility that Magic could exist and work for us. It
helps to listen to other people who have been successful at using Magic
in their own lives, but you won't even notice them unless your
mind is open to Magical possibilities.
Once you take that leap of faith by opening your mind, you will
begin to find proof of Magic everywhere you look.
Scientific
Proof of Magic
Quantum
physics now
supports the reality of Magic! Laboratory
experiments
have proved that our thoughts affect the outcome we perceive. The
expectations of experimenters shape the results of their experiments,
but this information is not really new. It has been taught in the
Mystery Schools
for
thousands of years, kept secret from the general
public.
Through
fiction and mythology, we have always kept our sense of magic
alive. The Celtic Myths
and Arthurian novels, among others, are filled
with magic and sprinkled with secrets that only initiates will
understand. You will begin to explore these in
the Celtic
Mystery School Magic E-mail Course
Even now, in
spite of our modern, scientific mind-set, Harry Potter books
are runaway best sellers,
topping every other novel in the history of publishing; and this at a
time when reading has lost popularity to films and computer games! What
we generally don't realize is that these fictional tales of magic
actually open our minds, on a subconscious level, to the possibility
of real magic.
We are seeing
a resurgence of interest
in
real Magic awakening in public consciousness as a
direct result of
widespread immersion in the fictional life of Harry
Potter. People
all over the world are beginning to realize that they are not really
muggles. Magical things are happening in their lives.
It's
about
time!
Magical Tools
We
have all heard stories of magicians, witches, and wizards
using magic wands,
incantations,
candles, and cauldrons. These
are symbols that
communicate directly with the subconscious mind. Our
subconscious,
which governs
over 95% of our actions, interprets
everything literally and through symbols. That's why
every country has
a flag, and every religion has a cross, or a star, or some other symbol
that represents it. We
naturally understand symbols at a very deep level of our being.
Lighting
a green candle to attract money, or pointing a wand when we
make a wish, can reinforce
the power of our imagination by getting the
subconscious mind to cooperate with our conscious wishes.
The
way to know
if using a particular tool is helping your dreams come true is to pay
attention to your feelings. If
you feel uplifted and joyful using a
particular tool, then you can be sure it is helping you connect with
the positive flow of Universal Energy.
If a particular
tool, symbol, or
ritual
doesn't feel good to you DON'T USE IT!
What
About
"Dark Magic?"
Even though "defense against
the dark
arts" gives
the Harry Potter stories much of their drama, there
is really no need in real life to defend against dark magic. The Universal Law of
Attraction is always at work and you can only attract what you
focus on.
Because
you can focus on negative things, you can indeed
create horrible realities for yourself, but not for anyone else. And
nobody else can attract anything to you. Everyone has the option
of
attracting whatever they choose to focus on.
We can be
affected by negative experiences only by focusing on
something negative. It
never comes from someone else, unless we accept or believe
someone else's reality. Of course, we all have our own
dark side - dark
memories, fears, and false beliefs lurking in our subconscious minds.
That is why we use grounding and shielding rituals in magical work and
seek to attain a healthy balance of "dark and light" in our daily
lives. Grounding and shielding are rituals that the
subconscious mind understands and accepts.
What we call
"dark" is simply that which is hidden from our conscious
awareness. In psychology we call it the subconscious.
In some religions
it may be called "Satan" or "evil," but in truth, it is nothing
more
than the misunderstood and repressed aspects of ourselves that we have
shoved away into dark corners of our consciousness. Darkness is nothing
to fear. Like everything else, it only needs to be understood and
loved. Turn on the light!
Trust
Your Intuition! Think
for yourself. Trust your own feelings - your
own internal
guidance system as Abraham calls it.
We
live in a safe, supportive universe. There is nothing to fear.
If
you
allow it, everything in the
universe will conspire to uplift you and make your life a dream come
true. Believe it and
you will see amazing things unfolding in your life. Share it
and you will see changes happening all around you. We have the power to
consciously shape our world and create Paradise on Earth.
There
will always be those who don't understand. They
may create their own
miserable experience, but you can create a wonderful life right in the
midst of them. No matter if there is war, or famine, or
mass destruction, or economic collapse all around you, it is in your
power to create a bubble
of peace, abundance, and joy that will radiate out into the world and
actually shift the balance toward a more positive experience for
everyone
you meet. Sharing the Magic
There
is nothing at all wrong with using magic to attract your own "selfish"
desires, but real fulfillment comes when you share magic with others
and they begin to understand that they too have the power to shape
their reality. Imagine a
world where everyone knows they can have whatever they want! There
is no
need to
fight or kill or steal. Everything we ask for is
given!
That is why I
feel it is so
important to share what I know about magic. I want
everyone to know that they are safe and secure, and that their every
wish can come true. There
is nothing more thrilling than seeing people
take on their own power to shape their reality!
There has been
a lot of confusion about religion and Magic throughout
the Western world, due to a mis-translation found in the King James
version
of the Bible, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." (Exodus 22:18)
The Hebrew word, translated here as
"witch," actually means "poisoner" in the original text. But the word
"witch," if you look at its root, means "spell caster." A
spell caster is not a poisoner! A spell is simply an intention
that is enhanced with
ritual and/or symbol.
This simple (and perhaps deliberate) twist of
meaning led to the torture and burning of hundreds of thousands
of people, 75% of them women. The Catholic
Inquisition burned
"witches" at the stake throughout a 400 year period. Even today, there
are a number of
fundamentalist religions that preach against anything having to do with
Magic, to the point of denouncing the fictional Harry Potter books
and films! This
comes from an unfortunate misunderstanding of what Magic really is.
Magic is all
about aligning with the
Universal Energy that religions call God. It is against
the ethics of magic
to try to control or harm another person, or interfere with the balance
of
nature. As magical initiates, we honor all creation as the embodiment
of Creative
Life
Energy. Though we may
effect changes in the physical world, our main purpose is
to align ourselves and balance our inner reality, so Magic is
essentially a personal
spiritual pursuit.
Earth-based or
Pagan religions of all cultures are usually the ones
associated
with Magic, because they are so closely
aligned
with nature. Yet every
religion has roots in a Magical or esoteric tradition that only a
chosen few were able to access. Kabbalah, Rosecrutian,
Mason, Knights Templar, and other so
called "secret societies," are all based in Magical tradition.
Though much of
their history has been lost, we can trace all Magical Mystery Schools
back to
the religions of ancient cultures like Egypt, Greece, Rome, Persia, and
the Druids of ancient Ireland. Some speculate that
all
these Mystery
Schools had their roots on the lost continent of Atlantis, or evenas
far back as Lemuria.
Christian
Magic
Since
the Western world
is so heavily influenced by a Christian tradition that has sought to
stamp out Magic, it makes sense for us to look
at
Magic in the
context of Christianity. The
first
mention of Magic found in the New Testament of the Bible is the story
of the three Magi (Magicians of Persia), as they visited the baby
Jesus.
It is
no coincidence that the Magi went to visit the child Jesus, nor that
they brought the symbolic magical gifts of gold, frankincense, and
myrrh. They knew from their study of the stars that Jesus was destined
to be a great Mage and they probably
contributed
to his education.
There is also a striking correlation between this story and other
mythical accounts of virgin births (i. e. Mithras, Dionysis, and even
Osiris), all connected with the movement of
the zodiac through the heavens. However, we will leave that for another
study and focus here on the recorded history of the life of Jesus.
Jesus taught
the Magical Law of Attraction to
the
masses (i.e. "Ask
and you shall receive." and "As you sow, so shall you reap."), which
was seen as threatening by those who wanted to keep the power of Magic
to themselves. Whether
you believe that Jesus is
God, or man,
or a combination of both, it is clear from the records passed down to
us that he knew and taught
the principles of Magic. (i. e. "Do unto others as you
would have them do unto you.")
At
the Last Supper, Jesus shared an ancient
alchemical ritual with his initiates, now known as "communion," or the
transubstantiation of bread and wine.
This ritual was common in
pre-Christian magical practice and is still used in modern magical
rituals.
It was passed
down through the Order of Melchizedek, which is an order
of teachers and healers from the Great White Brotherhood.
One of their
purposes is to safeguard the Four Sacred Hallows of the Faery realm -
the Cup or Cauldron, the Spear or Wand, the Sword, and the
Stone.
The Cup, the
Sword, and the Spear play important roles in the Gospel stories
(from the Last Supper through the Crucification) and perhaps the Stone
is represented by the stone rolled away from the tomb on Easter
morning. These symbols
have
since
appeared repeatedly in the Arthurian legends in connection with the
Holy Grail.
Where did the
Hallows come from? The origins
of the Four Sacred Hallows are shrouded in mystery, but
legend tells us that they were first brought to Earth by the Tuatha de
Danaan, the original Faery race of Ireland. Why, as a
priest of the
Order of Melchizedek, would Jesus bring the Faery Hallows to
the
attention of his followers? This is one of the deep
magical mysteries
of Christianity.
Though some
fundamentalist Christian religions make a point of
condemning Magic, they
fail to recognize that Jesus often taught and performed Magic, and
encouraged his followers to do the same. Since Magic is nothing more
than
using the unchanging Laws of the Universe to
attract what we want in life, and Jesus (as a teacher and
healer of the Order of Melchizedek) was most likely trained in the
magical arts,
it stands to reason that he would share these Laws of the Universe with
his followers. The
Gospels clearly state that
Jesus was "a priest of the Order of Melchizedek," and they are full of
references
to the Law of Attraction, which is the very basis of Magic.
Unfortunately,
there were leaders in the early Christian
churches who wanted to keep all the power to themselves. They
made a point of teaching
their followers to mistrust their own Inner Guidance - their intuition
and their feelings. They
taught the faithful to trust only external guidance,
from priests, ministers, and popes, threatening them with
excommunication,
burning at the stake, and even Hell fire if they did not follow their
teachings.
Out of fear,
people were persuaded to give up their own
personal connection with Spirit and to trust the priests to guide their
spiritual direction. Even
today most Christian churches, aside from Quakers, continue to
follow this model, yet it is far from what Jesus taught - "But you,
when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to
your Father/Mother in secret." (In the Aramaic tongue the
word now translated as "Father" also means "Father/Mother," the
balanced Source from which all things come.)
I will not
repeat all the related New Testament verses here, but if you are
interested I
encourage you to read the words and accounts of Jesus as
recorded in the
Gospels, as well as in more recently discovered documents (such as the
Dead Sea Scrolls), with a magical eye. If
your mind is
open you
will certainly find ample proof that Jesus repeatedly taught the Law of
Attraction, and performed miracles to prove its validity. Look
into your own heart and find the truth within. Trust your own
feelings. "The truth will set you free."
